Oak

Timeless comfort in every grain
Oak is a living material. One that responds to its environment with quiet dignity. Its distinctive grain, occasional knots, and tonal variations are not flaws but markers of authenticity, reminding us of the tree from which it came. These individual characteristics bring warmth and personality to each piece, making no two chairs quite the same.
As with all natural wood, oak will subtly evolve over time. It absorbs and releases moisture depending on its surroundings, which may lead to movement or slight surface changes. Rather than resist this, we encourage a gentle understanding of oak’s nature — and a few simple measures to help preserve its integrity.

Oak maintenance
To ensure your oak furniture remains as beautiful as the day it arrived, we recommend the following care and considerations:
Humidity & Temperature: Oak responds to its environment, so try to maintain indoor humidity between 40–60% to prevent excessive expansion or contraction. Avoid placing furniture near radiators, stoves, or in damp spaces.
Protection from Heat & Light: Use placemats and coasters to guard against heat marks and condensation. Over time, direct sunlight will alter the colour of oak, so consider rotating decorative objects occasionally to avoid uneven fading.
Daily Cleaning: Wipe with a lightly dampened cloth or sponge using a mild solution of water and natural soap. Always ensure the cloth is not overly wet, and dry the surface afterwards.
Occasional Nourishment: If the wood begins to feel dry or appears dull, apply an oil or liquid wax cleaner intended for wooden floors. Use sparingly — this is not a daily treatment, but an occasional refresh.
Stain & Surface Repair: For stubborn marks or worn areas, lightly sand the surface (minimum 320-grit, following the grain) and reapply a suitable hardwax oil. Ensure the wood is clean and dry beforehand. Specialist wood oils are available from flooring or furniture care retailers.
